Golden Wedding anniversary in Lockdown!
Surprise party in lockdown
2 weeks after my 2 metre portrait challenge (which by the way is still running so book your slot!) to help raise money for Leeds MIND, Hilary & Gerald Tammer celebrated their 50th Wedding anniversary in lockdown. Due to the coronavirus pandemic they sadly had to cancel their cruise around North America ending up in New York City to visit their daughter and family over there. What they didn’t know was their amazing daughter Debra had arranged a surprise social distancing party for them outside their house! All arranged from thousands of miles away in New York, their daughter got an outstanding brass band to come and perform some celebratory tunes! Tim Hurst & Joe Lancaster and band did an outstanding ensemble together and Hilary & Gerald were literally gob smacked and speechless as you can see from the pictures! Really loved the cake that was made for them using my portrait of them from the previous shoot made by Debra Coupland Cakes.
I met Hilary & Gerald last year at Debras daughter’s Bat MItzvah Friedafest held at Bushey Acadamy (you can see images of this in my bar/bat mitzvah portfolio!
I asked Hilary & Gerald the secret to staying together for a blissful 50 years and they replied 'For us it's been teamwork, having a sense of humour (possessed in abundance by Gerald together with his ability to continually make me laugh!) and sharing lots of interests.
You can see Gerald & Hilary’s 2 metre portrait challenge images here by the way.
Here’s a selection of the images from their Golden Wedding celebrations…
